Offset and digital book production
- Prime Rate offers both digital and offset production technology, making it economical to produce low-volume books as well. For both printing technologies, we use state-of-the-art printing presses supplied by HP, OCE-Canon, Xerox and Heidelberg.
- Whether digital or offset printing is more cost-effective for a book depends on the number of copies, the size, the number of colours and the binding method. Prime Rate has it all in one place. Our complete range of bindery services offers you unique solutions. If you need any assistance, even if it’s just in choosing the right production technology, please do not hesitate to contact us and then one of our customer service representatives will be happy to help you.
Paperback books with cold glue binding
- In addition to traditional hotmelt and PUR gluing, Prime Rate now offers you cold glue binding (also known as dispersion gluing), which allows for a much more flexible book opening. With this process, the glue can penetrate the paper fibres and fully bond in 12 hours of drying time.
- This method of gluing is mainly preferred by music publishers, but it is also used for thicker literary and legal works.
- If you need to print and bind a thick book, we have a solution for that too. Our bindery staff can also produce handcraft books with very special bindings.
Hardcover and thread stitched books
- Our in-house bindery can also produce book bodies with thread stitching upon request. The board can be covered with paper and canvas and can be supplied with a dust jacket. Books are produced with round or straight spines according to the customer’s request.
- Very thin inside page paper is often a challenge for printers. This is particularly important for books that are very thick and heavy due to the overall content, and therefore need to be produced using the thinnest possible inside page paper. In our printing house, we use 50 grams of paper for digital roll printing and sheet-fed offset production. For more information, please contact us.
Other binding methods
- For more than 20 years, we have been manufacturing loose-leaves. Not only can you order printing and drilling from us, but we are also at your service for your customized design, foldering, and invoice printing needs. If you need a stitched product or one with an endless spiral, you can also contact us.

Cover finishing
- When you pick up a book, the first thing you see is the cover. That is why the design of a book cover is very important. Once you have decided whether you want a paperback or hardcover book, you also need to figure out the exact finish. Four-colour printing, maybe cloth or leatherette binding – the decision is yours.
- Our print shop also offers a range of options for surface finishing. In addition to traditional methods such as embossing or partial varnishing, we also offer digital 3D UV varnishing, spot UV varnishing and 3D embossing.
- A laser cutter is also a great way to cut out a shape of any thinness on the cover of your book. These digital solutions are also economical for smaller print runs, as there is no need for expensive die-cutting. In summary, you can have your book printed, bound and surface finished by us at an affordable price.
Binding sample
- At Prime Rate, you can also request a binding sample before starting the complete book production. This way you can check the quality and even make changes. Our bindery is also equipped for low-volume production, whether it is softcover or hardcover, digital or offset.
